Bastion Lighting Colour Red for Duty Counsel Day on October 27

Time and date:

Legal Aid BC, working with its national partners in the Association of Legal Aid Plans of Canada, is celebrating the second annual Duty Counsel Day on October 27 to recognize duty counsel lawyers and the important work they do. Initiated by Canada’s 13 legal aid associations, Duty Counsel Day is dedicated to creating awareness about the profound impact that Duty Counsel lawyers have on the lives of Canadians who are in contact with the justice system. Duty counsel lawyers assist Canadians over 1.2 million times a year. From coast to coast to coast, they provide legal guidance in criminal law, family law, and immigration law. On the spot, at the courthouse or over the phone, duty counsel lawyers protect the legal rights of all Canadians – free of charge.
