Businesses operating in Nanaimo are required to have and maintain a valid business licence. The information requested in this application is necessary to fully evaluate your request for a business licence. Completion of this form, however, does not guarantee
approval of a business licence and business shall not commence until a licence is confirmed.
- Licence fees apply to a calendar year January 1st to December 31st.
- Most licence fees are prorated quarterly in the first year of business for new businesses only.
- Licence fees are not refundable if the licence is approved.
Note: This licence allows qualifying mobile businesses to operate in participating Vancouver Island municipalities without requiring individual business licences. You must have a valid Nanaimo business licence before applying for an Inter-Community
Business Licence. The fee is an additional $170 annually.

I/We the undersigned hereby make application for a licence in accordance with the information as stated and declare that the statements are true and correct. I/We undertake, if granted the licence applied for, to comply with each and every obligation contained in the bylaws now in force or which may hereafter come into force in the City. I/We further understand that all business licences expire December 31st and must be renewed each year. I/We understand that every business licence is subject to review at any time and may be suspended or revoked for cause.
