🐕Proof of Spay or Neuter

To qualify for the reduced licence fee, proof that a dog is spayed or neutered must be provided. For the reduced fee to apply for the current licencing year, the proof must be received by March 31. 

Acceptable Proof

One of the following documents may be submitted:

  • Veterinary certificate or invoice confirming spay/neuter
  • Letter from a licenced veterinarian
  • Adoption or rescue documentation indicating spay/neuter status
  • Declaration from dog owner

How to Submit Proof

Proof can be submitted:

  • Online at the form below
  • In person at the Service and Resouce Centre at 411 Dunsmuir Street, Nanaimo
  • By mail to 455 Wallace Street, Nanaimo. BC V9R 0J6

Ensure the documentation clearly shows:

  • The dog's status (spayed or neutered)
  • Matching owner and dog details

Important Notes

  • Proof is required before the reduced fee can be applied
  • The reduced fee will only be applied for the current licensing year if the proof is received by March 31
  • Documentation may be verified by City staff
  • If proof is not provided, the standard fee will apply
