Election Workers

We are now accepting applications for election workers for the 2026 General Local Election.

Applicants must be:

  • A minimum of 16 years of age and eligible to work in Canada
  • Available to attend a training session that will be scheduled to take place between September 8 - October 2
  • Available to work from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17 (General Voting Day)
  • Able to serve as a non-partisan representative of the City of Nanaimo (not expressly supporting, endorsing or opposing candidates or political parties or taking positions on political issues)

If interested, you may also apply to work on Advance Voting Days taking place Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14. Work hours are approximately 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

Election Worker Positions

The deadline for receiving applications is 4:30 pm on Friday, June 12.

 

Election workers will be paid the following rates per day (includes compensation for the required training):

  • $510 - Registration Officers
  • $470 - Other positions

Application forms must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12. Successful applicants will be notified in July/August 2026. Apply using the link below or by picking up a paper copy of the application form from the Legislative Services Office.
