Online Change of Address

Keeping your mailing address up to date helps ensure you receive important notices related to property taxes, user rates bills, and dog licences. It is the property owner's or licence holder's responsibility to notify the City when their address changes.

Updating your mailing address through this form does not change property ownership details registered with the Land Titles and Survey Authority (LTSA).

What You Can Update Using This Form

You can use this service to update your mailing address for:

  • Property tax notices and statements
  • User Rates statements
  • Dog Licence records

What This Does Not Change

This form does not:

  • Change the name on a property title
  • Update ownership records with LTSA

How to Update Your Address

  • Online: Submit the Change of Address form below
  • In person: At the Service and Resource Centre (411 Dunsmuir Street, Nanaimo); Monday to Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm; excluding statutory holidays

Important Notes

If requesting a mailing address change on behalf of a company, strata, or other organization, the City requires proof that you are authorized to act for that entity. Acceptable documentation may include evidence of your affiliation or authority to represent the organization. 

Requests submitted without appropriate documentation may be delayed or declined.

Acceptable proof of affiliation includes:

  • Corporate Registry records showing current list of directors or officers, listing your name
  • A letter on official company letterhead confirming authorization, signed by a director, officer, or president
  • An email from a corporate email address (i.e. @companyname) sent by a director, officer, or president
  • Legal or administrative documents that clearly show your name, the entity's name and your role or authority (i.e. board resolution, power of attorney)
  • Property management agreement (for strata or managed properties)

The City reserves the right to request additional documentation if required. These requirements help protect property and account information and ensure changes are made only by authorized individuals.

    Please Note: In the event of a sale of a property, tax and user rates prepayments are to remain on the account established for that property and responsibility for any adjustment shall be between the vendor and the purchaser.
