Green Rebates

It feels good to help the environment, but helping the environment AND saving money? Now that's a win-win! Here's a list of rebates that may just be the extra incentive you need to switch over to a heat pump, get rid of that old woodstove or swap in an efficient, water-saving toilet. Improve your home while helping the Earth - our collective home!

Woodstove Changeout Rebate. Does Ol' Smoky live in your house? Switching an old smoky woodstove over to a low-emission woodstove burns a smaller hole in your pocket thanks to this rebate, and it helps to reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.   Rebates are also available for those switching from an old woodstove to a heat pump or electric fireplace.  Apply for the Woodstove Changeout Program rebate today!

Heat Pump Rebates. Ever wish your home would efficiently hold the perfect temperature inside, no matter what the thermometer reads outside? That's where a heat pump shines. Heat pumps circulate and regulate the air between outdoors and indoors, cooling or heating it as needed. One degree outside? Don't worry about it. 32 degrees? Not a problem! Apply for a rebate to save money and reduce your energy consumption now.  Rebates and Financing programs are available to support you.

  • BC Better Homes Rebate Search Tool.  Check out the custom search tool to learn about what rebates are available to you.
  • BC Better Homes Energy Savings Program.  Up to $19,000 are available for heat pump rebates for eligible applicants. Rebates are also available for insulation, electrical upgrades, windows and doors, and other upgrades.
  • Home Energy Navigator.  Check out this FREE program to learn more about financial and non-financial supports for home owners looking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and their energy bills.

Home Energy Assessment Rebate. Are you unsure why your home doesn't retain heat well? An energy-leaking home is like a leaky car - it loses efficiency and may ultimately be harmful to the environment. An EnerGuide Home Energy Assessment helps you identify where energy is used in your home and what energy efficiency upgrades make the most sense for you and your home. The City of Nanaimo is providing Nanaimo homeowners with a rebate for completing an initial Energuide assessment by a registered Energy Advisor.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate. Do you have an electric vehicle (EV) or thinking of getting one? Rebates are available to support the installation of charging equipment for your EV. All rebates are in addition to the rebates offered through BC Hydro. While the application process will be similar a separate application must be submitted to the City of Nanaimo and BC Hydro to receive both rebates. View the EV Rebate page here.
