Economic Development

The Nanaimo Economic Development (NED) office is a municipal function within the City of Nanaimo. The NED works to develop a creative, dynamic and competitive business environment that fosters economic growth.  This office leads and mobilizes the community, local agencies, organizations and businesses to develop and implement strategies that will assist in strengthening our local economy.

On Wednesday, June 26, the City of Nanaimo held an Open House to: learn about the three different Economic Development service delivery models, learn about key themes that have emerged from stakeholder discussions and be able to provide feedback on the models and themes.

A survey was made available, and the results of the survey can be found here.

The consultant hired to review the Economic Development Function Service Model prepared a Final Report, based off of: background research, interviews (with representatives from all sectors, as well as Snuneymuxw First Nation), group discussion and community engagement. The report can be found here.
