Payment Options for City Accounts

The City offers several ways to pay property taxes, user rates charges, dog licence fees, and other City charges.

Payment deadlines apply regardless of the payment method used.

Online & Electronic Payments

Pay through your financial institution's online or telephone banking services.

  • Add City of Nanaimo as the payee (we recommend searching for "Nanaimo" only and choosing the right account type)
  • Use the account number shown on your statement or notice. For property taxes, use the 8-digit folio number without the period
  • Allow 3 to 5 business days for processing
  • Property taxes and user rates cannot be paid by credit card
  • E-transfer is not an accepted payment method

Good to know: Processing times vary by bank. Payments must be received by the due date. Any confirmation on payment date must be submitted to the City by the financial institution directly.

Pre-Authorized Payments

Automatic payments withdrawn from your bank account.

  • Available for property taxes and user rates only
  • Helps avoid missed due dates
  • Changes require advance notice
