Dog Licence Renewals

Dog licences must be renewed each year to remain valid. The deadline to renew and take advantage of the discounted rate is February 28th each year. All dogs over the age of 4 months must have a valid licence.

How to Renew a Dog Licence

A new application is not required to renew an existing licence.

Payment can be made:

  • Online using your account number and access code
  • In person at the Service and Resource Centre (411 Dunsmuir Street) or at the Nanaimo Animal Control (1260 Nanaimo Lakes Road)
  • By mail to 455 Wallace Street, Nanaimo, BC, V9R 5J6

When to Renew

  • Renewal notices are mailed in late January
  • Licences are valid for the calendar year (January to December)
  • Renew by February 28 each year to avoid missing the discount and receiving a ticket

Didn't Receive a Renewal Notice?

You can still renew your dog licence using the same account number and access code as reflected in a previous notice for the same dog.

If you cannot access a previous notice, please contact the Dog Licence department.

If your contact details or your dog's information has changed:
