Howard Avenue & Ninth Street - paving works

Back to map

Project Description

Road widening & paving works

The bend in the road at the corner of Howard Ave and Ninth St is too narrow to accommodate two transit buses turning the corner simultaneously.

This project will see the road being widened on the inside and outside corners of the bend and the road centre line being adjusted accordingly.

To assist with the construction works a temporary road closure will be in effect at 997 Howard Avenue. No through traffic will be permitted through the construction area and access will be permitted for local residential traffic only.

Three bus stops will be affected by the road closure and buses will be unable to pick up passengers at the following stops:~

One bus stop outside 997 Howard (southbound), and
Two bus stops on Ninth Street - outside 530 9th St (westbound) and outside 507 9th St (eastbound)

Two bus stops on Howard Avenue (between Weber St and Eighth St) and two bus stops on Bruce Avenue (between Alpen Way and Ninth St) will be unaffected by the construction works

General Considerations

During this construction period traffic disruptions should be expected. Expect a working day road closure of Howard Avenue at Ninth Street.

• Every effort will be made to keep local disruptions to a minimum.

• Construction signs will be posted, a detour route will be provided (via Weber St) and flagpersons will be on duty to manage the traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians.

• Please exercise caution, obey all signage placed for your safety and follow the directions of the flagpersons on duty.

• If you have young children, please advise them of the dangers and limited visibility of heavy equipment and trucks
