Neighbourhood Associations

Neighbourhood associations are independent voluntary organizations in the City that advocate for the shared interests and goals of residents and may run programs or special events. 

City Council adopted the Neighbourhood Association Supports Policy on April 25, 2022 to clarify how the City recognizes and supports neighbourhood associations in Nanaimo.  

Is there an active neighbourhood association in my area, and how can I contact this group?

The City maintains a contact list and map of neighbourhood associations that meet the organizational criteria of the Neighbourhood's Support Policy, as well as a map of geographic area of interest for each group:

Not all neighbourhoods have a neighbourhood association. Contact City staff if you are interested in starting a neighbourhood association in your area. Information related to forming and maintaining a neighbourhood association can be found at this link.

What is the Nanaimo Neighbourhood Network?
