Generations is a marble sculpture depicting three generations of women ranging from youth to old age. It is intended to honour women who raised their families during the great depression, during the war and post-war years in the twentieth century, who also found time for volunteer work.

The sculpture is dedicated to the memory of Nanaimo resident and volunteer Clara Singbeil. Singbeil was an involved community member and earned the Governor General's Award for Volunteerism. Some examples of her volunteer work include over 50 years of service at the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic, 25 years with the Credit Union School Savings program, participating in the Kinsmen Mother's March, canvassing for funds to build the Kin Pool, making hundreds of blankets for the children at Ronald McDonald House, baking for many organizations, and opening her home to local children who were experiencing family difficulties. This sculpture was made possible by donations from the friends and family of Clara Singbeil and the City of Nanaimo.

Daniel Cline (b. 1963) is a sculptor based in Chemainus, BC. He is a self-taught artist that works with stone, bronze, and marble. Cline creates work for public and private commissions and his sculptures can be seen in parks and public spaces across Vancouver Island.
