City seeks public feedback on the proposed Departure Bay Waterfront Walkway

Take the Survey!

Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking the public's feedback on the proposed Departure Bay Waterfront Walkway to aid future decisions on the project. A project brochure, video and survey are available on the City's online public engagement platform and the public are encouraged to provide their input until June 30, 2021.

The Departure Bay project links the existing trail behind BC Ferries Terminal to the existing walkway near the Kin Hut at Kinsmen Park. The project includes beach restoration, new public access points to the beach and separated pedestrian and cycling paths which will connect Departure Bay to the existing waterfront walkway network on Stewart Avenue.

The City has prepared a series of conceptual designs for the walkway in Departure Bay using a 'green shores' approach.
