Be "Fire Smart" this summer

With the arrival of hot weather, it is also the beginning of the dry season.

Summary

Nanaimo Fire Rescue staff is reminding residents to be aware of the increased fire risk to the community that occurs with the warm weather. The Hazard Rating will be going up and residents are encouraged to be aware and vigilant. Most brush fires that occur within the City of Nanaimo are the result of human carelessness, often in the form of poorly discarded smoking materials either thrown from a car window or not properly extinguished.
