Payment Options for 2015 Property Taxes

Summary

It's time to pay your property taxes and the City of Nanaimo Finance Department would like to remind residents that there are multiple ways to make payment. Claiming the N&R Home Owner Grant if you are eligible and making payment must be done by the due date of July 2 to avoid penalties.

Payments are always accepted in the Service and Resource Centre located at 411 Dunsmuir Street by cheque, debit, or cash. To avoid lineups and to bring in payment outside of office hours the City of Nanaimo has a secured drop box located outside the front doors of the building. You can also mail your payment but as we near closer to the due date please remember that your payment must be in the City's office by the due date as post marks are not accepted.

You can take your tax notice to your bank to make payment in person, or you can take advantage of other banking services such as making a telephone banking payment, or internet banking payment. You must still make application for the Home Owner Grant if you are eligible, and this can be done online at the City's website, by mail, in person or by using our drop box.

Link to Strategic Plan: We are 'taking responsibility' and making sure that our residents know the different ways they can pay property taxes. This is part of The City of Nanaimo's Strategic Priorities to be an excellent municipal government.

Quotes

"We are nearing the July 2nd due date so please ensure that your taxes are paid and your Home Owner Grant is claimed by this date so that you are not charged a late payment penalty. Also, please remember that online payments can take up to one full day business to process, so if paying online, allow time for this."
