User rates statements cover water, sewer and garbage fees. Statements are issued to property owners three times per year, approximately every 4 months. Properties are billed at different times of the year according to location.
MyCity
View your user rates statements, payment transactions and water consumption online through your MyCity account. You can also request to have bills delivered by email instead of regular mail from MyCity. Don’t have a MyCity account? Register now.
Note: You will need your account number and access code to add your user rates account to your MyCity profile. This info is shown on the top right corner of your statement.
Receive a 5% Discount
If you pay your bill on or before the discount date, you will receive a 5% discount on your charges.
Unpaid Fees
If you do not pay your user fees, the discount will be lost and your balance will accumulate. Outstanding balances as of December 31 of each year will be transferred to property tax arrears. Interest will accrue daily beginning January 1st.
Paying Your User Rates
Pay Online
On your financial institution’s website, search for “Nanaimo” and select either “User Rates, Utilities, or Water” payee options. Use the 6-digit account number on the top of the user rates statement.
Telephone Banking or In Person at Your Canadian Financial Institution
Contact your financial institution for instructions. Ensure your payment is processed by the due date to receive a 5% discount. You will need your 6-digit account number shown on the top of the User Rate statement.
Mail
Please write your account number on the front of your cheque (your cancelled cheque is your receipt). Address mail to 455 Wallace Street, Nanaimo BC, V9R 5J6. You may also drop your payment in the secure mail slot located outside at the main entrance of the Service and Resource Centre, 411 Dunsmuir Street, Nanaimo. This mail slot is accessible 24 hours a day.
Pay in Person
Pay with cash, cheque, or debit card (CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED) during regular office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m (excluding statutory holidays).
Pre-Authorized Withdrawal (PAWS) plans:
Consider enrolling in either the Equal Payment or Auto Debit PAWS plans to enjoy the following benefits:
- You will always receive the 5% discount on each statement
- No more mailing cheques, waiting in line or missing the discount deadline
- No balance will be transferred to the property tax account on Dec 31.
