Events Centre open house schedule expanded
Learn about the proposed project at four upcoming open houses
Nanaimo residents wishing to learn more about a proposed events centre located on the downtown waterfront at 1 Port Drive are encouraged to attend one of four remaining open house events, including an additional event scheduled at Vancouver Island University.
Each open house allows residents to get involved in this decision-making process by asking questions and examining the information that has been made available. The remaining open houses are scheduled for the following dates and locations:
February 21 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Moose Hall
February 23 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Harewood Activity Centre
March 1 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Beban Park Lounge
*NEW* March 7 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Vancouver Island University, Royal Arbutus Room
The City has made efforts to make open houses more accessible by locating them at venues across Nanaimo. Some venues are smaller than others and, because of that, those attending upcoming open houses are encouraged to spread their arrival over the first hour if possible.
Strategic Link: An events centre supports the Recreation, Culture, Sports and Tourism priority by providing the necessary resources and space to facilitate the development of recreation, sport and culture in Nanaimo
- Opportunities to attend open house events on the proposed events centre remain available at four locations across the City between now and March 7.
- Residents are encouraged to view the research and reports ahead of time, which are available online.
- The City invites the public to attend these sessions and ask questions regarding the proposed events centre. Members of Council and City staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.
- With the wide range views, perspectives and ideas that surround the events centre, the City of Nanaimo encourages everyone to please engage in respectful dialogue when discussing this proposed project.
