Feedback sought on Public Engagement Pilot Program
First two feedback events scheduled for July 17 and 18
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed July 14, 2017 11:45 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo is seeking feedback from residents on what methods, or combinations of methods, it can test during a one-year public engagement "open topic" pilot program. The first two of four feedback meetings are set to take place starting July 17, 6-8 pm, at the Beban Park Social Lounge and July 18, 9-11 am, at Bowen Park Complex Room 1.
The ideas and suggestions received during each of the four meetings will be provided to a committee comprised of community volunteers, members of Council and City staff who will review the feedback and propose recommendations on how to carry out the pilot program.
Link to Strategic Plan: Taking responsibility to be an excellent municipal government through open discussion and effective community engagement.
Key Points
- Residents of Nanaimo who are interested in helping shape the pilot project are encouraged to attend one the next week's two events.
- Can't attend? Watch for local advertising or posts on the City's social media accounts announcing two additional events along with an invitation to provide feedback via an online survey.

Quick Facts
- In the fall of 2016, Nanaimo City Council passed a motion to establish informal, open topic, community engagement and public conversation pilot sessions to be held quarterly over one year.
