Overnight structure fire displaces three

Summary

Just after midnight on January 24th, a RV trailer parked next to a home on Western Acres Road caught fire. The fire quickly spread to the house and extended through the soffit into the attic causing extensive fire and smoke damage to the interior of the home.

Fire crews made a quick attack and then spent several hours fully extinguishing the fire and ensuring it had not spread to any concealed areas. While crews were searching the interior of the house, a cat was successfully rescued.

Two occupants in the house were displaced as well as one occupant who was sleeping in the trailer. There were no injuries and the residents were insured.

Smoke alarms were present and activated during this fire. Early detection and notification of the Fire Rescue Department allowed residents to safely evacuate on their own and reduced the potential damage.

The cause has not yet been determined and investigators are on scene.
