Project Description

The Metral Drive Complete Street Corridor & Utility Upgrade Project consists of:

  • New watermain (approximately 1300m) and service connections.
  • New storm sewer (approximately 1300m) and service connections.
  • New road base, pavement, and road markings.
  • New medians with low-maintenance plantings and treed boulevards.
  • New curb ramps and tactile warning surface indicators (TWSIs).
  • New raised cycle tracks to connect the E&N Trail to the Woodgrove Mobility Hub.
  • New raised local road crossings to improve the prioritization of pedestrians and vulnerable road users.

General Considerations

  • Typical hours of work for this project will be: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • A minimum of single lane alternating traffic is to be maintained at all times.
  • Construction noise and vibration should be expected during working hours.
  • Residents and businesses will be notified 24 hours in advance of any scheduled water shutdowns.
  • Anticipate traffic pattern changes.
  • If you live in the area and have young children, please advise them of the dangers of construction and the limited visibility of heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Landscape restoration will be done at the end of the project.

Construction Value: $4,500,000.00

Estimate Construction Start Date: 08-SEPT-2020

Estimate Construction Completion Date: 30-JUNE-2021
