New Council takes office
The newly elected Council was officially sworn in at their inaugural meeting on November 5, 2018. Nanaimo’s new City Council consists of:

Councillor  Sheryl Armstrong 
Councillor  Don Bonner
Councillor  Tyler Brown
Councillor  Ben Geselbracht
Councillor  Erin Hemmens
Councillor Zeni Maartman
Councillor Ian Thorpe
Councillor Jim Turley

Board appointments 
Appointments were made to the Regional District of Nanaimo board and the Vancouver Island Regional Library board. On the RDN Board, Mayor Krog and Councillors Hemmens, Armstrong, Geselbracht and Brown will each receive five votes; Councillors Turley, Bonner and Thorpe will each receive four votes and Councillor Maartman will act as an alternate. Councillor Hemmens wills it on the Vancouver Island Regional Library Board with Councillor Thorpe acting as an alternate
