Mayor Krog presented staff with the Canadian Public Works Association’s National Public Works Week Award for Most Creative Entry. The award was introduced by Public Works Association of BC President Taryn Scollard.

Mayor Krog presented Sheldon Weatherby, the City’s Manager of Occupational Health and Safety, with the BC Municipal Safety Association’s 2025 Safety Improvement Award.

“General Election Amendment Bylaw 2025 No. 7129.05” (housekeeping amendments) passed three readings.

Council approved a cost-share agreement with the Regional District of Nanaimo for the Departure Bay Forcemain Twinning Project, to complete infrastructure upgrades along Hammond Bay Road. $19,060,000 will be included in the 2026-2030 Provisional Financial Plan for this work.

Council approved amendments to the Tourism Nanaimo Society Bylaws, as approved by the Tourism Nanaimo Society Board on 2025-OCT-27.
Section 12c

Council issued a temporary use permit for 2520 Bowen Road, to allow office use within a portion of an existing industrial building.

Bylaws

Home Energy Retrofit Financing Local Area Service Establishment Bylaws were adopted for 2305 Panorama View Drive, 843 Athena Place, 2548 Cosgrove Crescent and 6160 Dover Road.

The Mayor, on behalf of Council, will be providing a letter of support to the Nanaimo BMX Association for their application to host a Canada Cup BMX Event on July 11 & 12, 2026.

Council directed staff to report on funding options to support the Home Away from Home Project at an upcoming Finance and Audit Committee meeting.
Section 17a

Council directed staff to include clarity regarding the process for motions arising from delegations and correspondence as part of the next housekeeping amendments for Council’s Procedure Bylaw.
