Former Madill site sold
The site of the former Madill building at 1900 and 2200 Labieux Road will see new life as developer Bowen Road Developments has purchased the land from the City for $1.325 million. They plan to build a retail/residential community on it, but specific plans will be presented to Council at a later date.

The property at 2023 Cinnabar Drive received a notice on the property title for failing to conform to the City’s building bylaw for starting construction without a building permit.

Council approved the installation of a heat pump at 3732 Glen Oaks Drive on the side of the house rather than the rear.

A reconsideration was brought forward to approve a development permit variance that had previously been denied to construct an extra driveway at 3795 Glen Oaks Drive at the cost of reducing on-street parking by one spot.

Secondary suites addressed
A number of propertiesreceived a notice on the property title for failing to conform to the City’s building bylaw for secondary suites that need upgrading to address life safety issues.

Unauthorized secondary suites at 323 Black Diamond Drive, 6225 Dover Road and 290 Kathryn Place were ordered to either be removed or come into compliance with building bylaws within 30 days.

A number of properties were ordered to clean up their properties within 30 days or the City will clean them up at the owner’s expense.

Construction season ramps up
The 2016 Capital Paving program was tendered to Hub City Paving for $1,868,432.50 for scheduled work on Nanaimo Lakes Road, Oceanview Terrace, Park Avenue, Howden Drive, Victoria Road and Terminal Avenue.

Truck permit charges
Exemption permits for diverting away from designated Truck Routes for Commercial vehicles will now cost $30 per month for commercial vehicle training and $100 per month for commercial vehicles.
