REIMAGINE NANAIMO Launch
Council has given approval for staff to formally launch the REIMAGINE NANAIMO public engagement process.

2019 Annual Municipal Report
The 2019 Annual Municipal Report was approved.
Section 11 c

Tax Sale Redemption Period Postponement
Council has approved a Tax Sale Postponement of Bylaw 2020 No. 7311 and Bylaw 2020 No. 7312.
Section 11 d

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems
Council has approved the extension of the pilot project that allows members of the Nanaimo Model Airs Club, or individuals who qualify for a permit from the General Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture, to fly remotely piloted aircraft systems in designated locations at designated times, for one additional year.

Nuisance Properties
Council declared 484 Nova Street and 560 Milton Street as nuisance properties.

Development around Nanaimo

A rezoning application for 3500 Rock City Road, to allow for a multi-family residential development, was approved.
Section 11 i

Development Permits were issued for 602 Franklyn Street and 2126 Meredith Road, to allow for a proposed multi-family residential development on each property.

Emterra Environmental
Staff will be organizing a joint meeting with Emterra Environmental, the Regional District of Nanaimo and South End Community Association representatives to address concerns in the area.
Section 10 b

Zero Emission Vehicles
Staff will be preparing a report with options to allow the operation of Neighbourhood Zero Emission Vehicles in Nanaimo.

Bylaw Updates
The following bylaws were adopted by Council:

“Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2019 No. 4500.135” (To rezone 2220 Bowen 6 Road to allow “Cannabis Retail Store” as a site-specific use in the Community Corridor [COR3] Zone).

“Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2020 No. 4500.174” (To rezone 5801 Turner Road to allow “Cannabis Retail Store” as a site-specific use in the CC3 [City Commercial Centre] zone).
