Please note that program information is changing on a regular basis, so check back for updates often. Our online guide will be updated as programs are changed.

The City of Nanaimo produces three Activity Guides per year:

  • Fall: Comes out in August
  • Winter: Comes out in November
  • Spring/Summer: Comes out in March

Each Activity Guide features quality recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities in the following areas:

  • Summer, Winter, Spring Break and Pro-D Camps

How to Register for a Program

  • Online: Visit our Recreation Nanaimo website webpage where you can register from the comfort of your home. Available 24/7 with a valid credit card. Please call us at 250-756-5200 first to be setup as a client in our system.
  • In Person: Bowen Park Complex, Beban Park, Nanaimo Aquatic Centre and Oliver Woods Community Centre.
  • By Phone: Call 250-756-5200. During peak registration times, we may need to take your name and phone number and then call you back in the order calls are received.

Submitting a Program for the Activity Guide

Do you have a special skills or talent and like to teach? Parks and Recreation is always looking for new creative course ideas. If you have an idea that would make a good class for the community, let us know by filling out and submitting our program proposal form.

LEAP (Leisure Economic Access Policy)

The LEAP program provides access to the City of Nanaimo recreation facilities for families in financial need that are living in the City of Nanaimo, Town of Lantzville and the surrounding area, including Electoral Areas A (Cranberry, Cedar, South Wellington, B (Gabriola Island) and C (Extension, East Wellington).

Eligible LEAP cardholders are entitled to 50 percent course fee discounts (to a maximum of $40) for four courses per year. In addition, participants will be issued a Swim/Skate/Gym Pass for 50 free admissions throughout the year. Find out if you qualify and find the application form below.
