Canada Day 2025

Tuesday, July 1 | 11 am-3:30 pm | Maffeo Sutton Park

Join us for FREE family fun as we celebrate our nation's birthday. It will be emceed Daryl Major from Island Radio and Wave 102.3 live on location.

Events include:

-LIVE MUSIC from Unite the Beat (drumming), Barsby School of Rock, Mardi Gras Mambo, Turnpike, The Steadies

-KID & FAMILY ZONE, including games and face painting by Leaders in Training, bouncy castle, photo booth, community interactive booths, Nanaimo Drowning Prevention Coalition, Poet Laureate presentations, HMCS Nanaimo Ship Tours

-CULTURAL COMMUNITY STAGE with Acclaim Celtic Dancers, Vancouver Island Bhangra, Latin & Ballroom Dancers, Fiddelium, Nanaimo Chinese Cultural Society Drummers, Flowers of Nanaimo Chinese Dancing, Historical Fencing Club, Vibrant Studios

-FOOD ZONE, including food trucks and a water fill station (bring your own water bottle)

    Getting to Canada Day

    Parking at Maffeo Sutton Park will not be available on Canada Day but there are many FREE Parking options near the park (limited accessible parking accessible parking spots are available on site). You may loop into the park to drop off this year.

    • RIDE YOUR BIKE - a bike valet will be available through Hub City Cycles at Maffeo Sutton Park from 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Ride your bike and drop it off for FREE in a secured location. You will be given a ticket when you check your bike in and then you can go about enjoying the event knowing your bike is safe.
    • PARKING DOWNTOWN - even though parking is unavailable at the park, there is parking in the downtown area. This downtown parking map will help you.
    • TAKE THE BUS -a shuttle will be available for FREE.  Please see detailed schedules and maps below.
