Dog Licence Fees

🐾Dog licence fees are set to help support animal control, lost per reunification, and community safety programs.

Fees vary depending on whether a dog is spayed or neutered.

Reduced Fee for Spayed or Neutered Dogs

A reduced licence fee is available for dogs that are spayed or neutered. Proof of spay or neuter, or a declaration is required to qualify for the reduced rate. Please note that the dog must be spayed or neutered by March 31 for the reduced fee to apply for that licence year.

Renewal Information

Dog licences must be renewed annually to remain valid.

Payment Options

Dog licences can be paid:

  • Online through the City's website
  • In person at  Service and Resource Centre (411 Dunsmuir Street) or at the Nanaimo Animal Control (1260 Nanaimo Lakes Road)
  • By mail via cheque
