The Nanaimo RCMP Domestic Violence Investigators, the Nanaimo RCMP Community Policing Program, and the Nanaimo RCMP Victim Services, are planning Nanaimo’s second annual Purple Light Nights Campaign. The purpose of the Purple Light Nights Campaign which commences October 1, 2022, shines a light on intimate partner violence (IPV) and reveals the impacts this type of violence has on children and families. The Nanaimo RCMP attend to approximately 50,000 calls for service annually, and on average 4 calls per day, are for reports of conflict or violence within an intimate partnership.
