Transportation - Report a Problem

On this page you can let us know your ideas and concerns about the City’s transportation infrastructure. 

Please let us know if you have noticed something such as:

  • Pothole in a road
  • Cracked sidewalk
  • Traffic safety concerns
  • Sidewalk requests
  • Road marking paint concern

The City's transportation system includes provincial roads operated by the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. If you have a concern about these roads, City staff will work with the provincial agency to address your concern. The following roads are Provincial Highways:

  • Parkway Highway 19
  • Island Highway 19A
  • Brechin Road
  • Stewart Avenue
  • Highway 1

For the purposes of routing your ideas or concerns to the correct City staff, please use the contact form and select the correct category from the list below:

  • Maintenance Operational issues of existing assets
    Examples: traffic signals/street lights not working, boulevard maintenance, knocked down signs, faded road markings, potholes, street sweeping, etc.
  • Active Transportation Any requests you have about walking, rolling, cycling facilities
    Examples: crosswalk, sidewalk, bike lane, micro-mobility (e-scooter), flashing beacon, bike rack, etc.
  • Level of Service Your expectations of traffic services
    Examples: Congestion, concerns about increase in traffic volume, ROW control, request for traffic signal/street lights to be changed or added, limited sight distance, etc.
  • Parking Parking related issues and requests for an addition/removal/change of parking signs
  • Traffic Calming Speeding concerns or traffic cut through a residential street
  • Transit Issues related to transit facilities
