East Wellington Park Planning

Project Introduction

East Wellington Park was acquired by the City of Nanaimo in 2014. The site is 12.7 hectares and is currently an undeveloped park. It is zoned PRC-1 and lies within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).

A park planning process for East Wellington Park is currently underway. Initial public consultation and background research has taken place, including an open house, survey, and environmental assessments of the site. A plan for the park has been drafted, and was reviewed by Council at the Committee of the Whole meeting on October 28, 2019. Next steps include gathering public input on the draft plan, and making an application to the Agricultural Land Commission for the park uses.

You're invited to review the draft plan (available under the "Documents" tab below) and provide comments to Madeleine Koch, Parks and Open Space Planner, at: madeleine.koch@nanaimo.ca or 250-755-7506

Also, stay tuned for other opportunities to provide input on the draft plan this fall.
