Community Development

The Community Development Department wants to build a better community for you. We work with many groups and City departments to build a well-designed, healthy and prosperous community.  Dedicated units in our department - Current Planning & Subdivision, Engineering & Environment, Building Inspections, Real Estate, Community & Cultural Planning and our front-line Permit Centre - handle specific areas of expertise.

If you are interested in developing land, building a house, or opening a business, we can help you.

To keep informed, refer to resources such as the Official Community Plan and the Culture & Heritage Newsletter. You can also keep up with development projects through our What's Building in My Neighbourhood program. All this information and more is available to you on our website.
