The Neighbourhood Association Supports Policy outlines how the City recognizes and supports neighbourhood associations in Nanaimo.  

What are the benefits of a neighbourhood association?

Neighbourhood associations are independent, volunteer-led organizations in Nanaimo that represent the shared interests and goals of local residents and may run programs or special events. The City works with neighbourhood associations in a number of ways, including hosting annual engagement events and providing grant opportunities. Not all neighbourhoods have a neighbourhood association. Contact City staff if you are interested in starting a neighbourhood association in your area. Is there an active neighbourhood association in my area?

The City maintains a contact list and map of neighbourhood associations that meet the organizational criteria of the Neighbourhood Association Supports Policy, as well as a map of geographic area of interest for each group:
