The second Car Trunk Sale of the season is just around the corner!

Summary

Bargain hunters will find trunks full of treasure at the City of Nanaimo's Car Trunk Sale on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents looking for a bargain or a unique buy, can join over 200 vendors selling used items from the trunk of their car in Vancouver Island University's lower parking lot off Fifth Street. This free-to-attend reuse event aims to promote reuse and recycling of unwanted “garage sale” type items and items made from recycled materials and to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Key Points

  • The Trunk Sale promotes the reuse and recycling of unwanted “garage sale” type items. No retail-type booths or sale of new items will be permitted. The only new items permitted for sale are items made from recycled materials.
  • The trunk sale can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by giving used household items a new lease on life.

Quotes
