Concerts in the Parks move in August

Evening and lunchtime concerts switch locations

Summary

Starting August 3, the community can enjoy free evening musical entertainment on Nanaimo's scenic waterfront when the Summer Concerts in the Park series moves from its current location at the Bowen Park Amphitheatre to Maffeo Sutton Park. The new location will see performances by Jupiter Jill, Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra, Doctors of RocknRoll and Glen Foster Group. The series runs every Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm until August 31.

The lunchtime Concerts in the Park series also moves. But from Maffeo Sutton Park to Bowen Park Amphitheatre starting Monday, August 8 with performances by Liz Stringer, Joan Wallace & the Martys, Karen Kelm and Little Crow. Showtimes are on Mondays from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Bowen Park Amphitheatre until August 29.

Key Points

  • August 3, 17, 24 and 31 (Wednesday evenings) concerts will be held at Maffeo Sutton Park from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. There will not be a concert on August 10 due to a Snowbirds Airshow.
  • On August 8, 15, 22 and 29 (Mondays) from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, bring your lunch to the Bowen Park Amphitheatre for a special Lunchtime Concert in the Park. There will not be a concert on August 1 (BC Day).
