Celebrate summer with a Family Fun Night & BBQ


Kick off the summer season with a family-friendly event hosted by the City of Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Environment department. The Family Fun Night and BBQ will be held on Wednesday, June 29 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Departure Bay Centennial Park.

Along with a BBQ, families can enjoy crafts, games, musical entertainment, science fun and more. The cost for the BBQ & salad bar is $4 per person over 12 years of age and by donation for those 12 years of age and under.

Strategic Link: Family Fun Night supports the Cultural Vitality Pillar in the 2012-2015 Corporate Strategic Plan by promoting sport, recreation and leisure lifestyles.

Key Points

  • BBQ is hosted by Kiwanis Club of Nanaimo Sunrisers and the salad bar is hosted by Nanaimo Foodshare.
  • Science in the park is hosted by Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society (NS3) and musical entertainment is by Ian Johnstone and the Island Time Saxophone Quartet.
  • Learn about the different programs offered by the City of Nanaimo and other community groups this summer .
