Nanaimo Fire Rescue Crews Respond to Fire on Sechelt Drive

Fire contained to room and contents

Summary

Nanaimo Fire Rescue crews responded to a structure fire in the 6200 block of Sechelt Drive early in the evening of March 5th. Upon arrival crews were advised that the owner had extinguished the fire which was in a attached garage that had been converted into a suite. After conducting an assessment of the structure, NFR crews determined the fire had been extinguished and worked to clear the smoke that was remaining.

A Fire Prevention Officer determined the fire was suspicious and it has been handed over to the RCMP. Residents were allowed to return to the primary residence as the fire was contained to the suite.
