First Ever Family Fun Night BBQ Draws Big Crowds
Hundreds Show up at Event to Celebrate the Beginning of Summer

Nanaimo's first ever Family Fun Night BBQ held on Thursday, June 26 at Departure Bay Centennial Park drew hundreds of people in an event to celebrate the beginning of summer. People in attendance enjoyed a delicious BBQ through Nanaimo Foodshare and Cobbs Bread, listened to musical entertainment with Bobbi Schram and The Big Mess, created art projects led by Yvonne Van Kooi, experimented with difference science projects with Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society, got informed about being power smart through BC Hydro, learned how to play progressive tennis with North Island Tennis Academy and played games and got their faces painted with City of Nanaimo staff. In addition, families played in the water park or on the grass field throughout the evening.
