Update: Windstorm clean up in Nanaimo's parks

UPDATE (March 26, 2026): Parks crews are continuing to inspect parks and trails for any safety concerns following Tuesday's windstorm.

As of this update,

  • All destination parks have been inspected and are accessible to park users.
  • Crews are now inspecting smaller neighbourhood parks and undeveloped natural areas.
  • One trail in Beban Park adjacent to the golf course remains closed due to downed power lines.
  • The Seabold Park beach access trail also remains closed due to damage from a previous windstorm.

Please use caution in parks and natural areas. If you spot any damage or downed trees in one of Nanaimo's parks or trails, please report it to Park Operations through 250-756-5200. Thank you for your patience as we repair park infrastructure damages and continue to clear trails and inspect tree canopies.
