Reuse Rendezvous returns July 19 – 20, 2025
Nanaimo’s annual City-wide swap meet promotes reuse and helps keep useful items out of the landfill
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed July 14, 2025 10:00 AM
Summary
It’s time to clear out the clutter and pass along items you no longer need! The City of Nanaimo invites residents to take part in Reuse Rendezvous 2025, the City’s longest-running reuse event, happening on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.
This community swap meet provides an easy method to repurpose gently used home items. Residents are encouraged to place reusable goods — such as books, toys, furniture, tools, sports gear and more — at the curb in front of their homes, clearly marked with a “FREE” sign for others to browse and take.
To ensure a safe and respectful event, participants are reminded to keep sidewalks, bike lanes and roadways clear when setting out items. All unclaimed items should be removed from the curb by Monday, July 21.
Reuse Rendezvous is a great way to reduce waste and connect with neighbours. Whether you’re giving or picking up, please remember to drive cautiously, watch for children and respect traffic laws.

Link to Strategic Plan: By encouraging reuse of household goods and keeping waste out of the landfill, Reuse Rendezvous supports council's priority to protect and enhance Nanaimo’s natural environment.
Key Points
- Households – Find a match for your unwanted goods by marking them with a “FREE” tag and putting them at the curb in front of your home on the weekend of July 19 and 20, 2025.
- Bargain Lovers – Join in by searching the City for marked 'free' items you can take home and reuse. Good used furniture, tools, clothing, sporting goods and toys are just some of the great finds you could discover. Please remember to only take items you can use!
- Participants of Reuse Rendezvous are asked to stay safe when searching for bargains: slow down, watch for children, park carefully and obey traffic signs and speed limits.
Quotes
"Reuse Rendezvous is back! This city-wide swap meet is a great chance to clear out your space and pass along items you no longer need. Give your gently used goods a second life, help reduce waste, meet new folks and support your community — all in one weekend!"
