Nanaimo Votes: 2022 General Local Election preliminary results now available

Summary

The City of Nanaimo is pleased to release preliminary results of the 2022 General Local Election for Mayor and Council. With a total of 12,390 votes, Leonard Krog is the frontrunner for the position of Mayor. Preliminary results for the eight seats on Council are as follows:

  • Tyler Brown (6805 votes)
  • Hilary Eastmure (5650 votes)
  • Ben Geselbracht (8383 votes)
  • Erin Hemmens (7497 votes)
  • Paul Manly (10366 votes)
  • Janice Perrino (7131 votes)
  • Ian Thorpe (8040 votes)

Key Points

  • Voter turnout was 24.4 per cent of registered voters. In comparison, voter turnout for the 2018 election was 40.8 per cent of registered voters.
  • At the advance polls and on General Election Day, a combined total of 18,664 ballots were cast at 12 polling stations.
