Celebrating the best of Nanaimo's culture & heritage on Thursday, April 16, 2020

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, the City of Nanaimo will recognize the best of Nanaimo's culture and heritage with the 2020 Culture & Heritage Awards Ceremony. The ceremony, an evening of recognition and celebration, will be held in the Port Theatre at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) to honour these outstanding community members:

  • Trish & Geoff Horrocks, Honour in Culture
  • Patrick Aleck, Emerging Cultural Leader
  • Gary & Adam Manson, Honour in Heritage
  • Devon Joiner, Excellence in Culture

"Our city consistently exceeds all expectations with culture and heritage. This year’s recipients are no exception and attendance is free. So, Nanaimo, come out and celebrate", said Mayor Leonard Krog.

"These awards highlight and celebrate the ambitious, vibrant & inspirational people & organizations in Nanaimo and their incredible work and accomplishments”, added Chris Barfoot, Culture Coordinator.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets are free but must be reserved. The Culture & Heritage Awards have been important for community building and partnerships in Nanaimo since 1998. The awards bring awareness to the variety of the cultural activity in our community, and build pride in the culture and heritage accomplishments of individuals and organizations.
