Solid waste collections during snowy conditions

Summary

As weather conditions allow, solid waste collection drivers will attempt pickup on scheduled routes on Monday, February 19. However, Nanaimo residents are advised that, due to snow coverage and challenging road conditions, solid waste collection in some areas may be missed, particularly in areas at higher elevation.

The City would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding.

Quotes

"Collection crews will work to make as many collections as possible today. All garbage trucks are equipped with chains to help crews in the snowy weather. I would like to thank residents in advance for their understanding should their collection be missed and to reassure them that we will collect double the amount of garbage on your next collection day with no need for a tag."
