Stay safe for Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night

Bonfire Permits required for both evenings

Summary

The City of Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department would like to inform residents that a Bonfire Permit is required for Halloween on October 31st and for Guy Fawkes Night on November 5th 2017. These are one-time special event permits and separate applications are required for each event. In addition, residents need to be aware that the sale, possession, and discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited.

The regulations for the bonfires, and application forms can only be filled out and submitted in person to 580 Fitzwilliam Street. Deadline is Tuesday October 31st at noon for Halloween and Noon on Friday November 3rd for Guy Fawkes. Fees for these one time only special event permits have been waived.

We would also like to remind everyone that Halloween is a fun, and spooky time of year for kids. If children are wearing a mask, make sure they can see, give children a flashlight or glow stick so they can also be seen.
