City of Nanaimo's Fire Rescue sends crew to assist with interior wildland fires

Summary

One staffed fire engine with four firefighters from Nanaimo Fire Rescue are being deployed to Kelowna today to assist with the ongoing interior wildfire operations. Crews will be assigned any number of tasks from protecting structures in communities to assisting at wildland interface areas. This deployment is being carried out at the request of the Office of the BC Fire Commissioner.
