Taking steps to eliminate dust

Summary

The City of Nanaimo would like to remind residents and businesses that care must be taken to eliminate dust from entering the atmosphere while carrying out construction, excavation, repair or demolition activity authorized by a building permit. Similar care must also be taken when undertaking works and services or depositing or removing any soil on or from land. Thank you for helping us keep the air clear of dust and small particles.

As outlined in the City of Nanaimo's “Dust Control Bylaw 1995 No. 4896” every person must eliminate the emission of dust into the atmosphere.
Dust control regulations are in place to protect air quality, prevent pollution and avoid harm from small particulates.
Dust can be mitigated by moistening ground areas underneath, on route to or nearby places where activity is expected.
