Solid waste collections cancelled due to road conditions


The City of Nanaimo has temporarily suspended collection of garbage, recycling and kitchen waste due to the high risk of injury from ice and snow conditions.

Residents are asked to bring in their garbage, recycling and kitchen waste for the time being. Please check the City website ( and social media accounts for continued updates.

"We have stopped refuse collection today because we found that working in accumulated snow and ice on the shoulders of roadways is unsafe. A number of refuse collectors have been injured. The Sanitation crew has been redeployed to work on snow and ice removal from areas including bus stops, steps and bridges."
