Do you have your 2016 Commercial Vehicle Licence Decal?

The decal is valid for a calendar year and can be purchased at the City of Nanaimo Service and Resource Centre located at 411 Dunsmuir Street. A valid vehicle registration is required with the application for the decal which are valid in all BC Municipalities regardless of which City issued it. Commercial Vehicles not displaying the decal are subject to a fine pursuant to the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Bylaw 2007 No 7054.

Strategic Link: Taking responsibility to be an excellent municipal government.

Key Points

  • The Municipal Commercial Vehicle Licensing Program is established by Provincial Statue under authority of the Local Government Act.
  • Its purpose is to provide a source of revenue to municipalities to offset the associated costs such as road maintenance, signage, snow removal and parking control.

"The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Program has been in effect for decades within Nanaimo and the other 100 plus participating municipalities. Compliance has notably decreased. City Bylaw Enforcement Officers will be actively enforcing the provisions of the Commercial vehicle Licensing Bylaw when vehicles are found not to be in compliance."
