BC Bike Race along Wakesiah, Nanaimo Lakes Road and Harewood Mines Road on July 6

On July 6, 2023, VIU will be hosting the BC Bike Race for their fourth day of the seven-day race on Vancouver Island. Over 600 riders from across the globe will be participating in this course that will take them on a number of mountain biking trails in and around Nanaimo.

The race begins at 10 am at VIU and will head along Wakesiah Ave to Nanaimo Lakes Road then onto Harewood Mines Road and end at Westwood Lake. Traffic will be most impacted along Wakesiah, particularly the intersection of Wakesiah and Fifth Street (lights will be flashing with traffic control personnel), and on Nanaimo Lakes Road. Please slow down and watch for cyclists.
