Stay safe for Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night

Bonfire Permits required for both evenings

Summary

The City of Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department would like to inform residents that a Bonfire Permit is required for Halloween on Monday, October 31 and for Guy Fawkes Night on Saturday, November 5. These are one-time special event permits and separate applications are required for each event. In addition, residents need to be aware that the sale, possession and discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited.

The regulations for the bonfires, and application forms can only be filled out and submitted in person to 580 Fitzwilliam Street. Deadline is Monday, October 31 at 12:00 pm for Halloween and 12:00 pm on Friday, November 4 for Guy Fawkes. Fees for these one time only special event permits have been waived.

We would also like to remind everyone that Halloween is a fun, and spooky time of year for kids. If children are wearing a mask, make sure they can see, give the kids a flashlight or glow stick so they can be seen.
