NEWS RELEASE - Distributed January 14, 2026 12:00 PM
Summary
With a new year underway, the City of Nanaimo reminds pet owners to renew their dog's licence. Licence fees vary depending on whether a dog has been sterilized (spayed or neutered) and a 16 per cent discount applies for renewals made on or before February 28 of the licencing year.
Dog licences can be purchased and renewed at the City of Nanaimo's Services and Resource Centre (411 Dunsmuir Street) and the Nanaimo Animal Shelter (1260 Nanaimo Lakes Road) and on the City's website. For more information on dog licencing in the City of Nanaimo, licencing fees and to apply for and renew a licence, visit the Dog Licences page on the City website.
